In a simple understanding when you are planning to perform patching like support stack update and require to use maintenance planner, therefore you would to make sure SLD are maintained in your satellite system and push the update to solution manager 7,2 LMDB after which when executing Maintenance Planner in SAP Support Portal the planning for Patching activity can be carried.

Note: - Please know note that Maintenance Planner can be done independently with updating SLD and LMDB. 



1. SLD belongs to your ECC or Netweaver system and we normally access it via -t-code RZ70 for SLD Administration,

2. LMDB is being accessed in Solution Manager 7.2 - The SAP Solution Manager applications use the system information managed in the LMDB, for example change control management, monitoring and alerting, and root cause analysis.

3. Maintenance Planner in Solution Manager 7,2 ( previously known as MOPZ or Maintenance Optimizer in Solution Manager 7.1 - No longer supported by SAP) are available in SAP Support Portal.
