Although it was anounced during one of the SAP SAPhire in 2015 that some or rather ASAP will be replaced with SAP Activate practise, well that's true. Many of the organization are utilizating the best approach and qualities that are coming through from the SAP Activate agile approach. 

However on the limelight that are many organization also still encompasses in waterfall methodology approach as well, that is because of the process flow which are some or rather unable to bend due to complexity and user requirement and testing purposes. 

While does SAP Activate works? To answer in broad manner yes it does, because of the ROI and reduction of cost and flexibility in implementation does make the situation much more arising to its previous competitor ASAP. 

It compromises of 3 main component atleast of what i personally always endeavor in my projects and implementation.

keep it simple - its all about agile in otherwords being flexible in running a project. 

Waterfall methodology requires strictly steps 1-2-3-4-5 till finihs or restart from 1st step

while agile you also have the same as waterfall steps but you can revisit or restart any steps that you want or possibly explore.

Well keep it simple on SAP activate, it is not a new rocket science to master. Just in my opinion it helps alot and eases alot of operational manners.
