2 PRE INSTALLATION
======================================================================
How to Obtain the Oracle Database Software:
You can download the Oracle 11.2 software from SAP Service Marketplace using the following URL:
https://service.sap.com/oracle-download
In addition you need the Oracle 10.2.0.4 V5 Client DVD (Mat. No. 51039412) which you can download from the following path:
https://service.sap.com/oracle-download -> Oracle 10.2 Software -> Installation -> <your OS platform>
How to Obtain the SAP System Software:
The following SAP system installation DVDs are required to install SAP systems based on 640 directly with Oracle 11.2. You can download them from http://service.sap.com/swdc:
  • Mat. No. 51043312   NW 04 SR1 Inst. Master for Oracle 10.2/11.2
  • Mat. No. 51040088   SAP Kernel 6.40_EX2 All Platforms
Using BR*Tools with Oracle 11.2
To be able to use the BR*Tools with Oracle 11.2 database the BR*Tools release 720 with the latest patch level are needed. On release 710 at least BR*Tools patch level 30 are needed but the new Oracle 11g features may not be fully supported before BR*Tools release 720.
For information about how to update BR*Tools, see SAP Note 12741.

---------------<D023322, JUL/26/10>----------------------------
Java only: Check Oracle directories
Java only: Make sure that the following directories are available on the database instance host before you start SAPinst:
/oracle/stage/112_64
/oracle/<DBSID>/oraflash

======================================================================
3  INSTALLATION
======================================================================

When SAPinst prompts you to install the Oracle database software, do not follow the instructions of chapter "Installing the Oracle Database Software" in the installation guide.
Instead,  follow the instructions in the document  "Oracle 11 Database Software Installation" that is attached to this SAP Note (use "Oracle11SoftwareInstallation.pdf" from the"Attachments" tab of this SAP Note).

------------------------<D029385, APR/07/11>---------------------------
AIX only: Set environment variable LIBPATH before starting SAPinst

Before starting SAPINST, set environment variable LIBPATH as follows:
LIBPATH=/sapmnt/<SID>/exe:/oracle/client/10x_64/instantclient

Otherwise the following errors could occur:

ERROR      2011-03-28 16:24:28 [iaxxbrunas.cpp:269]
           CIaRunAsUser::run_impl()
MOS-01012  '/sapmnt/<SID>/exe/saplicense -R3Setup <SID> "XXXXXXXX" TRACE=2' returned with '254' which is not a defined as a success code.

Or

ERROR      2011-03-31 16:48:20 [iaxxbrunas.cpp:269]
           CIaRunAsUser::run_impl()
MOS-01012  '/sapmnt/<SID>/exe/dipgntab -fprot dipgntab<SID>.log -rwr40 -srctt DDNTT -srctf DDNTF -dsttt DDNTT -dsttf DDNTF -ttonly TT' returned with '255' which is not a defined as a success code.

If one of these errors occurs, proceed as follows:
    1. Stop SAPinst.
    2. Set environment variable LIBPATH as described above.
    3. Restart SAPinst. On the "What do you want to do" screen, choose: "Continue the old installation".

------------------------<D023322, MAR/08/11>---------------------------
Error: All tablespaces are displayed in the advanced Compress Tablespace Parameters dialog.
Symptom:
All tablespaces are displayed in Advanced Compress Tablespace parameter dialog.
Solution:
Select only user tablespaces psapsidpsapsidrelpsapsiduser, and user defined tablespaces.
Do not select tablespaces systempsaptempsysauxpsapundo for compress for oltp.

------------------------<D023322, SEP/22/10>---------------------------
Symptom:
Error Message during Database Load with R3load: (TPL) ERROR: unknown template variable "compress"
Solution:
Proceed as described in SAP Note 1511197.

------------------------<D023322, SEP/10/10>---------------------------
32 bit platforms: Parameter "Instance Ram" must not exceed 1.7 GB
Symptom:
SAPinst takes by default 50% of physical RAM for the database instance.
If you install your SAP system with Oracle database on a 32 bit platform, make sure that you do not enter a value exceeding 1.7 GB for the "Instance RAM" parameter. Otherwise error ORA-27102 occurs during the "Create database" step.
Solution:
Adjust the default value of the "Instance RAM" parameter to the appropriate value listed in SAP Note 743328.

---------------<D020990, AUG/26/10>----------------------------
Checking the file oraInst.loc
Before starting the installation of the new Oracle software on the database host, make sure that the file oraInst.loc is present in either the directory /etc or directory /var/opt/oracle and check that it has the following entries:

inventory_loc=<location of the oracle inventory>
inst_group=dba

If the Oracle Universal Installer has already been run on this host, make sure that the variable inventory_loc in the file oraInst.loc points to the location where the Oracle inventory is located. If this is the first time that the OUI has been executed on this host, enter the location where you want the inventory log files to be written to.

---------------<D023322, AUG/06/10>----------------------------
Oracle home not empty at step "Installation Location"
Symptom:
You get the warning message "[INS-32016] The selected Oracle home contains directories or files. Are you sure you want to continue?"
Solution:
Ignore this warning. Choose "Yes" to continue with the installation.
