1 - Hardware and Software Requirements

supported opperating systems:
- Windows XP
- Windows Server 2003
- Windows Server 2008
- Windows Server 2008 R2
supported Excel versions:
- Excel 2003
- Excel 2007 (1259442, 1276981 and 1337054 )
- Excel 2010
please note:
- Windows Vista or Windows 7 are not supported.
- Only SAP BW Precalculation Service Multi Instance can be used with 64bit systems.
- Virtual machines are supported.
2 - SAP GUI and Frontend
SAP recommends to use
latest available patchs for SAP GUI, SAP Front-End and Precalculation Server. On Precalculation Server machine you need to install the BEx Analyzer:
- 7x workbook precalculation needs BEx Analyzer 7x (Business Explorer / BI AddOn).
- 3x workbook precalculation needs BEx Analyzer 3x (BW 3.5 Add-On)

3 - Installing Precalculation Service
- Log on to your host as user with administration rights.
- Start the Setup Program.
- Choose Next to run through the screens of the wizard and finish the installation:
4 - Configuration of Precalculation Service
According
Recommendation for using Precalculation Server please use
SAP BW Precalculation Service Multi Instance.
- Go to the Services window of your operating system using services.msc in the Run command.
- To open the properties dialog box double click on service 'SAP BW Precalculation Service Multi Instance'.
- In the 'Log On' TAB, select "This account" and enter a user with full administrator rights. Then choose the OK pushbutton:

6 - Uninstalling Precalculation Service
- Make sure the you have deleted the Precalculation Server Instances
in backend system by using Tx RSPRECADMIN. For that please review Creation of Precalculation Server Instance
- Log on to precalculation server machine as user with administration rights.
- Go to the Services window of your operating system using services.msc in the Run command.
- Search for the service 'SAP BW Precalculation Service Multi Instance' and stop the service via context menu.
- Open the Windows Control Panel and click on 'Programs and Features'.
- Select 'SAP BW Precalculation Service' and press button 'Uninstall/Change' to deinstall the software.
