Overview
Advanced Monitoring is used for all use cases in System Monitoring where the template approach does not help, as the configuration differs largely between different Managed Objects.
For a specified Managed Object, Advanced Monitoring easily allows to:
- Create several different Metric definitions
- Simultaneously update different Metric values and thresholds
- Test the Metrics by a direct call to the Data Provider on the Managed System
- Create Incidents, Notifications, Third-Party Components, Auto Reactions for Alerting
- Perform the Monitoring and Alerting Activation
Data are then automatically available in System Monitoring and Alerting Infrastructure.
The following use cases are already available:
- Oracle Tablespace Monitoring
- ABAP Transaction Monitoring
- File System Monitoring
- URL Availability Monitoring
- Exception Monitoring (fully integrated in the Exception Management Configuration of Root Cause Analysis Workcenter):
- ABAP Short Dumps
- ABAP System Log
- ABAP Update Errors
- ABAP Application Log
- Log File Monitoring (non-ABAP)
Starting Point
- Transaction GPA_ADMIN (except for Exception Monitoring):
- Type: Guided Procedure
- Application Area: Advanced Monitoring Configuration
