Install and Register TREX in the Portal

·           Add WebServer Role to Windows, ensure ISAPI Extension and IIS 6 Management Compatibility is selected

 

·           Run SAPinst

enter the sapserviceTRx and trxadm password to match the same as the master password

Trex installation mode is = Install a new Trex instance
Install HTTP Server = yes (tick)
Proxy settings leave it blank
Language for Document analysis leave it default with as below

Post installation – error faced in SAP MMC, as TREX overwrites with older version of SAPMMC.SAR

 

Solution – extract sapmmc.sar from 7.00 patched kernel CD to overwrite files in c:\windows\system32 and re-register sapmmc.dll

 

1. Post configuration TREX – connect to Abap SID and maintain RFC connections.
2. Update the new TREX program id in Jco RFC provider in  Visual Admin – manual create. Meaning click on the old trex entries and change the gateway host, and program id taken from theTrex admin and replace and save, then it will create another trex RFC destination in visual admin.
3. Check status in Trex admin and also change the VA Trex service to the correct port below. à save and restart the TR3 only as the steps are shown below

To register TREX with the Portal, we have to first locate the name server and port of the TREX Installation.
This is located in sapmsg.ini.
we have to then set up the TREX name server in the J2EE Engine with the Visual Administrator.
Procedure:
1) Go the installation folder where TREX is installed.
2) Open sapprofile.ini, in notepad and make a note of port number, usually it is 30001.
3) Start Visual Administrator and the way to do is
a)      Go to Server Installed path i.e. usr\sap\<systemid>\<systeminstance>\J2ee\admin
b)      Choose go.bat and start it.
4) Choose Global Configuration à Services à TREX Service.
5) Select the nameserver.address properties field
6) Enter the server name of the TREX instance and the port number.
7) Choose Update.
8) Choose the Save button.
9) Select Yes to restart the TREX Service.
10) Exit the Visual Administrator.
11) Now to check the connection in the portal, we need to have Super Administrator permissions in the Portal.
12) Log on to Portal
13) Choose System Administration -> Monitoring -> Knowledge Management -> TREX Monitor -> Server Status.
You should see the status of the HTTP Server, Name Server, Queue Server, and Index Server  is Available.
