Note 1672367 - SYB: NW 7.30 system copy with target SAP Sybase ASE

Summary
Symptom
System copy on Sybase ASE
SAP NW 7.30-based products
Other terms
SAP NetWeaver 7.30, installer, system copy, SAP Sybase ASE
Reason and Prerequisites
You would like to perform a system copy with target database SAP Sybase ASE.
Solution
Note:
The target system on SAP Sybase ASE will always be a Unicode system.

To reuse ASE software from the source system for the target system just copy the existing ASE software located in /sybase/<SID> to the target folder /sybase/<NEW_SID>. It is sufficient to copy only the software without the database device files. On the target machine start the SWPM 1.0 installer. It will recognize the copied /sybase/<SID> folder and ask you to reuse that software. Accept it and continue your system copy.

1. Prerequisites for source system:
  • ABAP only, Java only systems, dual-stack systems PI and MI
  • ABAP SAP_BASIS 730 SP4, minimum
  • Java 7.30 SP4, minimum, including all available patches for SP4
  • For systems making use of SAP NetWeaver BW (for example, SAP Solution Manager, SAP SCM), also refer to SAP Note 888210.

2. Export:

Execute the export step on your source database using software provisioning manager 1.0. Do not use the old installation master media from the original delivery.

3. Import:
In case the source database is SAP MaxDB, refer to SAP Note: 1836598

Migration media
Use the latest available SWPM installer of the current SL Toolset and the corresponding "Kernel720EXT for SWPM" CD. Use at least SAP Sybase ASE Version 15.7.0.050

Mandatory minimum version requirements
It is mandatory to use at least the following component versions to run a migration:
- ODBC 15.7.0.508
- DBSL 720_EXT UC 64, pl 431
- R3load 720_EXT UC 64, pl 402

R3load option to avoid running out of logspace
[ASE Error SQL1105]Can't allocate space for object 'syslogs' in database '<SID>' because 'logsegment' segment is full/has no free extents.

To avoid this error, use the minimum versions mentioned above.

We recommend using R3load option "-loadprocedure fast". Without this option, all activities during the import will be logged.
The installer will implicitly use this option and thus reduce logspace consumption.

4. Post-migration steps:

Mandatory SAP Notes
Download and implement SAP Note 1558958.
Download and implenent SAP Note 1617621.
